It was warm today. The sun fell gently, slowly bringing objects – including the skin – up to temperature. A few classes were held outside; the mall had many individuals scattered. Went to the basement of the library and ran into a few nervous about exams and tried to read myself.
Felt necessity and ambition were both far away from the sunlight. Not quite making the progress I want with a...

I think I'm in love, or some nonsense
I’m crushing on someone. She’s more into poetry than I am: she’s introduced me to a few poets I hadn’t known about. We’re talking fairly regularly about her life and health.
Oh, and she might be the hottest woman on the planet. Just sayin’.
My wish: that we be better friends and communicate well. It’s fun to be excited about someone, especially this...

Not, this time, to infer but to wait you out between regret and parking lot somewhere in the day like a dare
Salt grime and the foodcarts’ rising steam, at Prospect St. a goshawk huge and aloof, picking at something, nested in twigs and police tape for a while we all held our phones up
It is relentless, the suddenness of every other song, creature, neighbor as though this life would...

You have no idea how rare this is. Even among other academics, no one asks me about my work. It’s pretty frustrating after blogging for 5-6 years.
Link goes to reddit and of course reddit links to the original post. I walk through a section of Xenophon’s Memorabilia line-by-line and try to illustrate the ambiguous Socratic relationship with democracy.

Robert Frost, "The Gift Outright" →
The land was ours before we were the land’s. She was our land more than a hundred years Before we were her people. She was ours In Massachusetts, in Virginia, But we were England’s, still colonials, Possessing what we still were unpossessed by, Possessed by what we now no more possessed. Something we were withholding made us weak Until we found out that it was ourselves We were...

I Am Out of Words.
tiny-bee:
I would never be so bold as to consider myself a writer, beyond saying that I write. I write stories, I write poorly structured blog entries, I write emails, I write letters, I write shopping lists.
Lately, however, I find myself out of words. I don’t know what to say when I log onto this website. I take a picture of my face and type a few flippant sentences. I don’t write.
I sit...
