St. Nektarios (by Rublev’s Pupil)
From silver vessels
to the bronze of candle bases,
an illumined space
with iconic windows of gold -
well, I like church.
In the Greek church
arises the aroma of incense;
a chanted liturgy
brings mouths to harmony.
The priests’ majesty
in splendorous vestments
dazzles, then gestures
set rhythm solemn
as if all our history was that motion,
the great glory of Byzantium.
Yet another non-musical post, I’m really sorry to my followers. But since this one is my only blog on tumblr…
Please, take your time to read this and spread the word:
Maria Alekhina, a prominent environmental activist, and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova have been put in prison for 2 months without trial, simply on suspicion of taking part in the anti-Putin actions of feminist punk band Pussy Riot. They have 4- and 5-year-old kids waiting for them at home. We ask you to spread the word and to organise actions of solidarity, the first one for the 8th of March, International Women’s Day! The women went on hungerstrike since the arrest. They may be sentenced for 7 years.
I know Maria, she is my classmate, she’s a wonderful girl. I fucking cried when I saw her in cuffs. This country is just fucked up.
Your image, tormenting and elusive,
I could not touch in the mist.
“God!” I said by mistake,
never thinking to say that myself.
God’s name like a gigantic bird
flew out from my breast.
Before me thick mist swarms,
behind me stands an empty cage.
